Emily Husband: From Sydney Uni SFC to the Matildas
New Assistant Coach to the Matildas, spent several years developing players at Sydney Uni SFC as Head Coach.
Sydney University SFC proudly congratulates former NPL Women's head coach Emily Husband on her appointment as Assistant Coach of the Matildas. Emily's rise to the national stage is a moment of great pride for the club, where she spent several impactful seasons shaping players, teams and culture with her strong leadership and football intelligence.
Joining Sydney Uni SFC in 2019, Emily led the club to consistent success in the NPL Women’s competition. Her approach combined technical precision, tactical clarity and a deep belief in developing young talent. Many players flourished under her mentorship, and her influence extended well beyond the pitch, helping to create a positive and professional environment that players and staff deeply valued.
While her move to Central Coast Mariners in 2022 marked a new chapter, Emily carried forward the same passion and vision that defined her time at Sydney Uni SFC. Her success there only reinforced her credentials and has now led to her well-deserved role with the Matildas. She continues to demonstrate the value of homegrown coaching talent and the strength of Australia’s football development pathways.
Everyone at Sydney Uni SFC is thrilled to see Emily take this next step. Her journey from our club to the national team is an inspiration to all and a reminder of what dedication and belief can achieve. We look forward to cheering her on as she supports the Matildas in their next chapter.
